Sounds like a great trip. Isn't "Summer of the Monkey's" a great book? How neat to see the wild monkeys. so sorry to hear about your lips. what are you doing for them?
We just got back from spring break in sunny Fort Luaderdale. We had the best weather. Every day was sunny and beautiful. I loved all the little canals around the city that lead to the ocean. it remended me of Venice Italy only there were yachts and big boats, not gondolas. I had read about this place called Dania beach near the airport that had wild monkeys running around. ( I read it in one of those Carl Hiassen novels all set in Florida) Well I was driving around the area near Dania beach near a rent a car place ( hertz) and I saw three wild monkeys crossing the raod. If you feed them, you can get fined so I just stopped and watched them. it reminded me of that nook by Wilson Rawls called Summer of the Monkeys.
The beach was so pretty and clean. I got the best tan ever and my husband played golf three times. The only bad thing that happened is this. I use this really good sun screen on my face ( L'Occitane) but I forgot to put it on my lips. Now I look like I have lip leprosy. My lips are all broken out with blisters and I know I am soon going to get fever sores that bleed. I look like crap. I told my husband I was too embarrassed to go to Mass today but he made me go. I wanted to watch the Mass for Shut ins on TV.
Anyway, I wish I could live in Florida year round. It's back to school tomorrow!!

That sounds like do much fun! I've loved Florida every time I have visited the state.
Once when I was touring Cape Canaveral, I saw signs that said something like "Keep Out - Area Infested with Venomous Snakes" - I like the wild monkeys better.
Snakes would be better than arned gaurds as far as I'm concerned.

Sounds like a nice trip (except for the lips). I never knew there was a place down there with wild monkeys running around. I'll have to put that in my files for whenever I finally get to Florida.
I know it's probably a bit of a downer to head back to school, but think of it this way, you are on the down-hill slide to summer break.
I have two more weeks of school, then Spring Break.
Don't you just hate it when you miss a spot like that? One year I had a bathing suit with a diamond opening on the back, and I completely forgot to put sunblock there. . . EEEEYYYOOOUUUUCCHHH!!Originally Posted by Sister Golden Hair

Welcome back!!! Lovely weather we're having, isn't it??? NOT!!!! I never heard of the wild monkeys on the beach. The last time I was at a place with wild monkeys was at a temple of some sort in Kuala Lumpur. Monkeys were everywhere. The people there told me to stay away from them-not cause they bite (they do) but they were full of lice. YUCK!!! Enjoy going back to work..... I know I can't wait to wake up at 6:00 am tomorrow and start the whole routine over.
I was in Ft. Lauderdale for a couple days too. It's a nice town. I was surprised.

Just yesterday, my son remarked how he would love to be on a sunny beach right now. Sigh.
