    No school tomorrow

Freezing temperatures & rain have caused our superintendent to cancel school. He's probably jumped the gun, but a four day weekend is nice...

We don't get a lot of bad weather days in south Texas. My son is so excited he can't stand it.

Since the Presidents' Day holiday is a designated bad weather make up day, it's going to be a long haul to spring break.

    We're off too, Mary!

One of my colleagues called a few minutes ago to ask if I had any info. Her hubby teaches at Clemens and had gotten a call saying school was cancelled and he was teasing her that she had to work.

My kids are off also. It's gonna be nice!

We have a two hour delay today (too cold for the buses to start), had the holiday yesterday, and Friday had wn early release because of a gas leak. It is gonna be hard getting back into the swing of things. Enjoy your day off.

We had a holiday yesterday, but we are out today due to all of the ice. I would almost put money on it that we're out again tomorrow. I should probably know by 2:30ish. The main road through town is fairly clear in one lane, but the side roads are horrible. Nothing but a thick layer of ice. We ended up with a lot of sleet and then freezing rain to seal it all in nicely. We've been in and out a few times, but you cannot tell by looking at our drive way. Our vehicles won't eve break through this stuff!

Enjoy your time off. In a way, I'd like to go back tomorrow since we're using our last bad weather day today.

    Night School Closed Early

We have a "night school" in one of Houston's Districts and, it closed early as they said we had freezing rain just a mile north and it was moving south.
    Tomorrow will play by ear.....

Well, we had an interesting day of semi-inclement weather....
I got up this morning, and waited until about 6. It was sleeting outside. I waited until 6:10- if the phone call announcing a delay or cancellation comes, it will be by then. No call. So, I hopped in my car, and gingerly drove the 52 miles to work. Get to work, and what happens? They bring the students to school, and we sit there for an hour until the students were dismissed at 8:45. Now, today was an exam day. Tomorrow was supposed to be a workday. So they will come tomorrow and do their exam- we didn't hand out testing materials or start any exams as nobody seemed to know whether or not we were going to be there. Now, bear in mind- most of the sleet, snow, and freezing rain we had fell until about 10 AM. It was not a huge amount. It would have been better to have a delay and come in late. So I spent the day more or less idly- can't finish the grades until I give the exam... Anyway, some of us sort of got a snow day today.
