    OMG! I got into MIT!

    That's Manukau Institute of Technology...

I can't believe how fast this has all come together. Since deciding not to return to school at the start of Term 4 last year - had to put an embargo on myself just in case someone read it earlier than I was going to announce it on here - I applied to MIT but heard nothing back. Finally I rang up last week and they sent out an application form - go fig, the one on the website didn't work - I sent it back on Friday. Got rung up yesterday. Interviewed today. I start school on Monday!

I can't wait! I'm so excited! Unfortunately I had to go teach (at Kip McGrath) after the interview and finding out so had to put on the "Serious" face. But now I'm home, I doing the happy budgie dance!

Benefits of MIT is that it is only a level 6 course - which means I can rest my brain while studying somewhat. AND I found out today it is free parking! AND it is WAAAAAAAAY closer than having to go into the CBD or onto the North Shore, or "out West"

I can't believe that I managed to get everything I aimed for mid-year to happen in the space of about a week. Best of all, because I am FINALLY over 25 I qualify for a student allowance (non-repayable loan) from the government! But I think that this time I will have to accept a student loan for fees and books. First time in my life going into debt. Not happy about it, but thems the breaks.

So now all that needs to happen is that I get a few more shifts at Kip McGrath or a few more private pupils to help the cash flow situation because I really don't want to get a supermarket job to make extra cash. And two years from now I get to walk down the aisle dressed like a penguin again! YAY!

<<invites everyone to do the happy budgie dance>>

    WOOT!

Teaching is like scabies- you can't calm down till you scratch the itchy place, i.e. to fulfill your inner necessity to teach. As it is the place you'll feel good, CONGRATULATIONS!
