I am having problems passing the math part of the praxis exam. If I dont pass it I will be let go after two years of teaching. This test is crazy.

First of all, welcome to Teacher Focus! Hope to meet you here often.

For some practice questions to better prepare for PRAXIS, check out the link below:

Of course, this is not a panacea; however, it might help.

    Good luck!

A teacher at my school was faced with the same dilemma. She did eventually pass. Do your best to prepare and continue trying.

Best advice I can give you is to visit a public, college or high school library or guidance office, they should have study guides. If you need to contact a college be sure to ask in the Education or certification deptartment. To save time check on line that they have the materials available. At my college, we could only use the books there but they provided us private rooms to study in.

    Borrow and cram.

    It worked for me.

    BE POSITIVE.
    Good Luck.

I went with the "ignorance is bliss" route with all my testing. I didn't study AT ALL for any of those tests I ever took. Honestly, I didn't even realize there was anything to study. I just thought that I was supposed to already know what was on the test. Lucky for me I was finished with my MA by the time I was 25, so I go to take all my tests while I still thought I knew everything.

I think part of what helped me to avoid the whole issue was that I was never knew anyone who was taking the same test at the same time so I didn't know I was supposed to stress out.

I studied for months for the math part of my GRE. It had been about 20 plus years since I had had a math course and I was terrible at it even then. I got the "cliff notes" versions of all the maths that I knew would be on it (geometry, calculus, etc.) and other textbooks and studied like a demon. Passed. Not high in the math part, but passed.
