I teach seniors in FL at a relatively small school. Since I have always taught seniors, I haven't paid as much attention to FCAT standards as I should have.
Now that I am becoming really interested in educational reform, I have a question...
Does FL law provide a penalty free opt-out option for students that do not take the test? i know they they must pass it in 10th grade in order to graduate. But what happens to a student who refuses to take it? Are they denied graduation? Or what about a 3rd grader whose parents keep him at home during testing...is he automatically retained if he has passing grades in all areas?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks so much,
CR
