Hello everyone. I have pasted a link to an online petition being signed to save the Detroit Zoo. The zoo is the landmark of the city (and state) and should remain open for all to enjoy for generations to come. I feel it is my duty as a citizen of the state of Michigan to stand up and do the right thing.

A year ago the Mayor and the city council decided to close the doors to the Belle Isle Aquarium rather than handing it over to another organization to care for and maintain. The same thing is happening here, the city council would rather see the zoo closed then to hand it over to the Detroit Zoological Society (or any other organization that is willing to keep it operational), even though the Society has been maintaining the place for years. It is appalling that the city can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Valentines Day “Detroit Love” campaign and building two stadiums for two worthless sports teams, but they can’t find a way to keep the landmark of the city open?

I ask that everyone sign this petition, even if you don’t live in Michigan…and send it to friends and family. Right now there are over 26,000 signatures, and the number goes up by the minute.

Thanks!

Kristie
