She cleaned my desk without permission

Another teacher teaches reading in my room while I run the guided reading program. It was very difficult giving my room to someone else. She is only here for 1.5 hours but I think I was really accomodating. I offered to bring in a teacher desk for her so she could set up her own space. She never said yes or no.

I also told her that, to most my desk looked messy, to me it was organized and I wanted it left that way until things calmed down.

I walked i this morning for my guided reading group and my desk was cleaned.

    I"VE BEEN VIOLATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have had a cow right in the middle of the floor! LOL

I am so sorry you had that happen to you. I am very anal about my desk and I would have almost passed out if anyone had “cleaned” MY desk. My kids laugh because even they know that one of my rules is you don’t touch my desk (they will even remind other students). They have learned to ask to borrow anything on my desk. If they would like to use the stapler (it gets passed around when an assignment is due) then they ask. I would consider this a personal violation and it would really bother me. Some people can be so inconsiderate.

That is a big no no. It would hit the fan if someone else cleaned my desk.

Personally I like a neat desk. Although I would never clean anyone else's desk I get aggravated when trying to fix a computer at one of my teachers desk. Trying to dig through the cr@p to get to the keyboards and mice sets me off. As I'm digging papers are falling off on the floor.

If they can find my desk under the pile of stuff, they can clean it. Not having a classroom, I still manage to have a classroom's worth of stuff- and I am about as organized as your average junkyard. If somebody were to actually organize my stuff, I'd lose everything.

I actually had a student comment this morning that my desk was clean! I rearranged my room yesterday and had actually cleaned things up, but geeezz! And since I got caught in wreck-traffic this morning and was about 10 minutes late (still plenty of time before the bell rang though), several of them had decided that I might have quit since my desk was clean and I wasn't there yet!

    I must add though...

As a student teacher I find it frustrating to go into my associates classroom and discover that there is no space to put my lesson plan/handout etc etc prior to handing them out. I tend to balance them precariously on top of piles and hope everything does'nt tumble down.

From my POV, having a clear corner if you know someone is coming, or an obvious work area which is clear would be nice.

And also. I totally agree about not touching the desks! My mum decided to "help" my messy desk by "tidying" it. I lost so much work!

OMG mark! i would hit the roof! there is organization to my chaos leave it alone and when I choose to go into psycho cleaning phase I will do it! do NOT, under any circumstances, touch my desk!

i would likely not say a word, but there would be a new desk in the room ASAP!

sorry mark, that was way inconsiderate.

I'm so sorry that you felt violated. That is so tough.

When you feel better you might consider that the educational space belongs to the taxpayers/district/school/families/students...it's not really personal. So that the instructional area can be ready for all the needs - you, subs, itinerant teachers, etc. - you might choose to clean, organize, and set up a more streamlined desk arrangement, making room for others.

Again, I'm sorry...I don't like to share my workspace either.
