It IS a beautiful day.
However, it is our turn to host our home Bible Study group tomorrow evening, so I am cleaning house, doing laundry, etc. I do sneak out occasionally just to enjoy!
Posting is slow today. Folks working outside? I am grading papers inside and doing laundry. Hubby is putting together a cabinet to hold more DVDs and CDs. He tipped it forward with the top shelf not being secure, so it hit his head. He has a hard head, even without the hairy covering. Ouch.
Hoping everyone is having a great day.

We had intermittent showers throughout the day. The entire day was overcast which was just as well since a grill cook, dish washer, and hostess "called off." Since managers at my restaurant are cross trained in all operations I spent my 10 hour shift either on the grill line making food or at the dish tank washing dishes.
As my shift came to an end, the general manager asked if I could do him a favor. Since the PM shift didn't have a hostess/cashier, could I please fill in for this category? So after working a full ten hour shift through breakfast and lunch, I got to work a few more hours through dinner.
What fun! (grimace)
I really hope someone out there hires me as an elementary teacher. Not only do I miss the classroom, but I also miss having more control over my schedule.
As a classroom teacher, I worked 10-15 hours beyond the 40 hour week ... but I worked at a time and place of my choosing. Sometimes I went into work early. Sometimes I stayed late. More often than not I took a lot of work home.
I can't do this with the restaurant. Managers work a minimum of ten hours per shift and we frequently work longer at the behest of the general manager.
If I were an hourly employee I'd be making a ton of money but since I'm under contract and draw a salary ... (double sigh)
We slept in until 10:00 this morning. (See my "trade days" post for an update on yesterday.) We might have slept later, but Mom called to see if I could pick up the dog's new insulin at the pharmacy before noon. She doesn't drive and Dad has dialysis on Saturdays. I had to pick my medication up anyway, so I told her I would. (And they weren't as surprised at my dog getting medication this time, either.)
Dad got home about the time we took the medicine there. It's "Mountain Mushroom Festival" weekend in our town, so we all decided to go. We used to harness the dog and all walk to town--a mile from my parents' house--on festival weekends . . . sometimes more than 1 trip per day. However, now that we're all "old", we drove. (The dog stayed home.) I parked in front of a co-worker's house. She's about a block from the festivities. We spent about three hours there before we were all beat. It was a beautiful day--sunny and a just right temperature.

I got a haircut, watched a ton of documentaries on TV (it seems that Saturday is the "documentary day" on most TV stations) and graded the 8th graders' Jungle Book responses... I also calculated the 8th graders' present grades (if the end of year was now, what they would get). They actually have quite good grades overall.
Ok, we more or less pulled through the Jungle Book thingy... Next generation will probably read "Judy Moody saves the world" which was my first choice, but I thought it would be too childish for them and that they would probably have the buy the paperback at the bookstore instead of just going to any library and finding the Jungle Book. However, it seems that only one? out of 24 kids has a library membership card, while my by far the best student is actively protesting the idea that she should join the library as she has 500 books at home and none of them is the Jungle Book so it is not fair to ask her to find it, and kids were basically mostly unable to collect the raw data for the report similar to that Judy Moody had to do in their class (they seem to be unable to go to the park and make a list of plants and animals there?)
It was a gorgeous day here today! Not too hot, sunny. It's been windier than usual this spring, though. I got the rest of the mulch put down (there is never enough!) and then went to pick up son at the airport. Then I did some house stuff for a few hours, including watched a few tutorial videos on my new photo software that I'm in love with. The tutorials are good too!
Yesterday there was a tribal fundraiser and I set up my canopy and products - I sold $170 worth of cards, prints and a mousepad! And gave away all my business cards! So that was a good day. Gee, 10 or 11 more of those and I'll break even ......

It was a beautiful day here in Vancouver. We walked along the seawall to look at the outdoor art display--some of which is permanent and some of which is about to be taken down. On our way back to the car, the Boy said, "hey, there's an Italian gelato place. Why don't we get some?" and so we did. MrBunny was pure and had nothing but water. The Boy had Dolce Latte (caramel with pralines) and I had the most amazing Blood Orange Sorbet. What a delicious end to our lovely day.
