Thank you for your continued interest. Riley went in for chemo last week and started low doses on Wednesday. I spent all day Saturday through Sunday morning with him (Sat 8:00 am – Sun 8:00 am). Riley’s mom got a much needed break. My wife has taken time off her career to be with him as well. She’s on the Tuesdays through Thursdays shifts. Being a nurse is an added bonus for us! Meanwhile Riley’s mom and dad are with him as much as possible…CHOCs (Children’s Hospital of Orange County) allows his sister in his room as well. Even though little Sydney and I got in trouble for running in the hall ways…she’s 2 ½ and the donor. She goes in the 24th for her part.
The time I got to spend with Riley this last weekend was both precious and a joy. We have truly bonded. I sing and he goes “wah-wah-wah” to my off key voice. For an 11 month old…he sure is a smart one! I will be with him every Saturday until February where I am off for the month and will be mom and grandma’s night time relief.
What has been amazing is meeting the other parents and relatives in Riley’s wing…all are strong and devout people who are inspirations to us…we are such wusses compared to them.
Riley still has a full head of hair and the chemo hasn’t had much of an effect on him as of today…we are figuring that things will get a little tougher for him this week.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. I wish you could all meet him…I know he’d have a smile for each and every one of you…did I mention the nurses have dubbed him “The Ladies Man”?
