Could be math. Let's see, symmetry? Halves? Ok, what else?.
Kids NEED a break just like we do. And this break was spent thinking of others which is good. I love that they were thoughtful toward the newer teachers.
And you may well be wondering why since I teach math and science. But every once in a while, it is fun to deviate from the norm. So, today, we made valentines.
The kids were getting them right and left, so we made them for teachers who might need encouragement. I told them not to include me. By the afternoon class, many of the kids were concerned that some teachers might be left out, so they started kind of judging the piles to make sure that the lesser piles got some cards.
Who got the most valentines of encouragement? The two new teachers!

Isn't it nice that the kids recognize that new teachers especially need encouragement?
