Wanna get pretty wealthy in the education profession? A local played this community like a master recently. True story!
1) Retired as a superintendent.
2) Got hired here as superintendent - three year contract, full benefits, around 100K a year minus 100% paid benefits. Now, what he did was masterful and he finally managed to get it off
What he did was from the onset became quarrelsome (sp?) with the school board. It's been an ongoing drama for about 2 years. My brother and dad (my brother, recently a school administrator until leaving to work at a university) said he's trying to get out of the last year of his contract PAID. I said "Phooey."
Sure enough, the board wanted him out so bad they hammered out a deal that if he'd leave now (over the past summer), they'd pay his last year's salary AND benefits until July of 2008.
3) Get a new job as superintendent at a local school for 85K a year.
Let's see - 85 K a year, plus retirement, probably around65-70 K a year, and the 100 K from the job he left for one year. So the dude worked out 250,000.00 to work ONE job!
Not bad work if you can get it off!
Moe to Larry: "Boy, you got brains like Napoleon."
Larry: "But Napoleon's dead!"
Moe: "I know it........."
