Wow. Hope they can do something for you. Keep us updated.
I had two MRIs on Thursday -- was in the machine for almost two hours. They did shoulder and hip all in the same afternoon. I go back to the ortho guy Tuesday afternoon. He suspects a tendon has torn away from the bone inside the shoulder joint. He has no clue what's going on with the hip except that a previous MRI three years ago showed significant arthritis.
I don't know if I'm more scared of cortisone shots or hearing that I have to have surgery. Hate those shots. If it's surgery, these will be the 6th and 7th joint reconstructions I've had done.
Other than that, all is going well. My grad criminology courses are fascinating and I've finished two of them since Sept with 100% :-) I'm starting two more on Monday and then two more the first week in Jan. Each course runs two months (but it's a semester's worth of work in those two months!). I'm loving every minute of it![]()
I'm still teaching online grad Communications in an MS in Nursing program and undergrad Sociology courses. Still also teaching on-campus writing and communications. Then by next summer I hope to be also teaching criminal justice courses online![]()
Well that's all assuming my right arm's not in a sling for a couple of months. That will sort of throw off my plans somewhat. Oh well, I've taken grad courses and taught online typing left-handed for a couple of months before -- guess I can do it again!
I'm still reading and keeping up with everyone here -- just haven't been able to post much. I'll pop in on Tues night or Wed morning with an update from the ortho appt.

Good luck and good health with the ortho appointment. Boy, I admire how busy you keep in spite of the pain.
Had my shoulder worked on in August. If they let you have a nerve block. Take it. That and the cryo pack saved me a hell of a lot of pain.
Good luck.
P.S. I PMed you a while ago did you get it?
Wow Sunnie!
Good luck to you. I miss your posts.

Heavens!
Good luck with your surgeries. My mother had several joint reconstructions, they weren't fun, but the end result was always worth the aggrevation.
I'm sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

Sounds painful! I hope things go well at your appointment. Will be waiting to hear.

Thanks y'all for the good wishes. There's good news and bad news. Part of the bad news is that now there's arthritis in both hip joints, although the left is not as bad as the right. I should get a cortisone shot in the right hip joint soon but it's outpatient because they do it under an imaging machine so they can tell where to put the needle UGH!
The good news is that there's no damage yet as a result of the arthritis in either hip and he's going to keep a close watch on both hips so that when something goes wrong that can be fixed, he can catch it early.
Bad news about the shoulder. I have a partial tear in the rotator cuff and the AC joint needs to be scraped and cleaned (that's where the shoulder meets the clavicle -- acromion and clavical joint). It'll take about an hour, outpatient, with a nerve block (Mark tell me more about that please!!). I'll wear a sling for a minimum of 4 weeks and 6 months before it's back to normal.
Smartass me says to the doc - only an hour and no general anesthesia? That'll be the easiest joint surgery I've ever had.
He looked at me and shook his head and proceeded to inform me that shoulder surgery is the most painful of all the joint surgeries.
UGH again.
*sigh* oh well -- I'm looking at my teaching schedule and my grad courses' midterm and final exam schedule to see if I should do this thanksgiving weekend or Christmas or New Years. If I wait till xmas or new years then I can't teach my on-campus courses starting in Jan cause I won't be able to drive for at least a month. If I do it Thanksgiving then I only have three weeks left of the on-campus courses after that and I can get a ride to work for three weeks.
Decisions, decisions.
I'll let you know when I figure it all out and schedule a date.

I'm so sorry. You are in my prayers!
