Hmmmm . . . I posted a reply to this post earlier today, but now I don't see it. Wonder where it went?
I'm not going to repost the entire thing tonight, but I will tomorrow.
Happy biking!
On our last snow/ice day, we ventured out on the terrible roads as hubby had a hospital visit he was determined to make. We ended up shopping, seeing a movie, and eating out. We went to a bike store and did some browsing.
I loved to ride my bike growing up in the suburbs. One of the first things I bought with my first job was a new 5 speed bike! Loved that Schwinn. With babies and clergy income early on, we got bikes at garage sales. A pet peeve on my part is having tires that would not hold the air and the gears which would never quite work with the maintenance.
Finally bought a new bike about 6 years ago at Walmart. Hubby didn't think we needed to spend the money for new when we could go to a garage sale, but this was one of the few times I was adamant. So I had a good bike for a year, until son used it to ride and messed up the front tire and a gear while riding it. Never quite the same.
So we are going to buy two Trek bikes on the mid level Comfort line. They have a wider tire base, which will be more stable for me. (Since I broke both wrists, I am careful about falling. The seat will be wider and more cushioned also. Hubby will buy the same kind so we are aligned with energy and time while riding.
We will need good, new helmets, lights, maintenance kits, odometer (my requirement) and water bottles. Pretty bright colors for the helmet and water bottles in matching colors. We will select them tomorrow so that they can get them ready and we will have them home for my Easter break!
We can hit some trails this summer on vacation and get in some better shape!
