    Weird Start to the Day

When I left for school today, I saw that I had left my garage door open all night. No big deal; I've done it before. After I pulled my car out and I was prepared to lower it, I saw a bird hanging on the pane of one of the windows on my back door. It must have flown into the garage. I decided to close the garage door, but I left the back door open to allow it to escape.
This is why I feel unsettled. It is an old wive's tale that when a bird flies into your house, it means a death. And, it has happened in our family... So, I am wondering - does the tale hold true for a bird in the garage?
I don't mean to be superstitious, but it just makes me feel creepy.

I've never heard of that tale before. I have had 3 birds in our homes before. In fact I had one that flew in the car before. Talk about throwing the car in park in the middle of the street and jumping out yelling. 8O
One time not too long ago when one flew in the house it was just me and dd home that night. I called our Handy Dandy firemen up the street to come get it out of the house. As I was on the phone with them I pleaded, "Please don't turn on the siren." They finally chased him into our bedroom and throw a cover over him and then took him back out the front door and let him go. You should have heard my conversation with hubby later that night about me and the 3 men in our bedroom.
"If the door is left cracked, kick it open."

Was it a "Fantail" bird? Maori call it "Piwakawaka".
If a fantail flies into your home it means a death of someone you know. Fantail are kinda native to NZ, so I think you're safe :-)
