    Well, I officially suck

    Stop it.

I mean-- I posted a few weeks ago about a couple of jobs I had applied for. One was the new Human Resources Manager. *Blaaaaaaap* that one went to a woman with NO k-12 (or any educational) background, NO Masters degree (like they were asking for) but she did have HR experience-- that is being a secretary in an HR office. Sheesh. But she comes from the Logging industry, and right now, the Business Model is God.

The other post was for a Numeracy Coordinator. This would have been a really cool job, and a big part of it was coordinating the implementation of the new program-- which I piloted, sat all year on the mentorship committee for, and attended workshops and training sessions for.

But....they went with someone who has Middle school experience as well. Even though she doesn't know the program. Even though she hasn't had the training. Even though she never attended one mentorship meeting or joined the committee.....or anything.

    Sigh.

    But I'm not bitter.

meh....other opportunities will arise, I'm sure. But tell me it isn't an impossible dream that One Day I Will Be Valued For My Abilities.

I think I 'prolly won't sit on the committee again next year....

    Feh.

Hang in there and keep trying! People like that get those jobs probably because they know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody...well, you get the picture. See if you can make nepotism work for you....

I'm so sorry. It is really hard to lose a job to someone who seems less qualified. I am sure there is something even better out there for you!

    aaawwww

What a bummer! I am so sorry that you did not get either of the positions when you were hoping for one of them. Your passion would have energized the program. It is disheartening when others are chosen for unknown reasons.

Oopsy!! Didn't mean to turn this into a Pity Party! What can I say-- I'm disappointed, sure, but I KNOW that this is a message I was supposed to heed--there is totally an opportunity out there for me.

I just wish it would get on a faster bus!

Thanks for your words--no worries, though, just a little mini-vent

I am so disappointed for you. It just makes you wonder about what you don't know that goes on behind the scenes in hiring practices. Keep the one door closed, another one opens philosophy...and I'm sure you'll at least find a window to squeeze through.

Ahh bcl -- sorry you're going through this. It's a numbers game, that's all. In the past 7 years I've probably applied and/or interviewed for over 500 jobs. The ones I got I really enjoy -- still

Numbers and time -- get that resume out there and keep plugging along. Believe me, when it's right, it's right. The rest is just practice

    Good luck!!
