What are you doing (or did you do) this Memorial Day weekend

Mine will be spectacularily boring! I have 20 research papers to grade (hogwild: Can you relate?) I also have 23 essays to read which I stupidly put off. My only consolation is that it is supposed to rain off and on. We are going to some friends' house to play cards one evening, so that will be a nice break.

I did indulge myself yesterday. We got out at noon. I sat on the porch and read for a couple of hours, took a nap, actually made dinner (my hubby was so shocked he could hardly eat) and dinked around on the computer.

But it's time to get to work. I discovered about half an hour ago that I left the rubric for my research papers at school, so I best "get truckin".

Hope you all have better plans than I do!

School's out, so I've already started planning (and even preparing a bit) for next year  Okay, so I'm a nerd.

Over the next couple of days, I'm going to read, watch a movie or two, sleep as much as I want to, walk my dog almost as often as he wants me to, and spend as much time as I can convince myself to cleaning up the house. Okay, so I'm boring, too.

Next week I have to go to my parents' because my mother's going into the hospital for some tests and my dad needs someone at home to take care of him (he had a couple of mild strokes and a severe drug reaction following surgery last summer). I don't guess I'll feel like vacation has really started until I get past next week.

    Starting point

I got home after institute and, with the help of a friend, got two bathrooms, the kitchen cleaned, the fridge cleaned, and some windows. Most notably, hubby has started gathering clutter and is framing some pics, and gathering graduation mementos.

I am about to shower, and might drop by to see son's scrimmage baseball game. I have a doozy of a migraine, why before our big party?

Hubby asked if it is usual to feel so tired while on antibiotic. For having a week of vacation, he hasn't gotten as much done as I had hoped. Have to just be understanding as I know how I have felt at times. Just an inopportune time for it.

    We're boring, too!

DH got up at 8:30 and started doing laundry and cleaning house. I stayed in bed until 10:30, although I'd been awakened by a HUGE leg cramp long before DH got up. We put new filters in the return air vents. I made grilled cheese for lunch and taught hubby how to use the can opener so he could have pork & beans with his sandwich. (Usually his head injury side effects aren't all that obvious, but the can opener had him completely confused today.)

He's still cleaning, and I'm here on the computer. When I get finished here, I need to plant some more flowers. Then I plan to cross-stitch.

We'd discussed going hiking after church tomorrow and then taking in a couple of movies at the drive in.

I am in the middle of power washing the deck so that we can re-finish it tomorrow. Hubs just went down to Durham for the deck stain that we are going to use, leaving me to finish the power washing. Dontcha just know that the dang thing just completely stopped? I mean it just stopped. I was washing away (and managing to damage the wood on my deck in many places, durn it) for about 45 mins. and then it just stopped. I have never used one before so I don't have a clue what's going on. I was hoping to have the whole thing done before he came back. I think I'm out of gas or oil or something, but I have no idea what is ok to put in it. I'll have to wait for hubs and hope they told him at the rental place we got it from. He's not much handier with house stuff than I am.

Ah well. Out to put some mulch around the last mulch-less bastions.

Don't you know that you are resting for me!? You don't have two children graduating from college and high school within a week. I am having two sides of the family over, neighbors, friends, college and HS friends, and our congregation for an open house. The house is starting to look like a normal home. Haven't even begun the food prep yet, but it will get done. Big grad blowout!

Someone has to rest and relax, jme, so you do that for me!

Boring here too. Catching up on stuff around the house and yard. Got my office cleaned up YAY!! (LOOOOONG overdue!) and DH's office cleaned up (not quite as bad as mine was LOL).

While DH is doing projects around the house and yard I'll be grading mid-terms and the usual weekly papers.

    more

Well, I have made two jello salads, and cut and sliced umpteen veggies. Hubby made the hamburger patties to freeze, and was pretty unhappy about how long it took to do it. (Do you think he appreciates a bit more of what I do)?

I have vacuumed the entire first floor very well for a change, washed and polished the hallway hardwood floors, and washed the kitchen and pantry floors. I have to wait for hubby to go to bed to finish polishing the floors. Hes framing kid's pictures. I dusted a good part of the living room and the dining room. (Don't tell anyone, it will ruin my reputation)! Got my mess in my bedroom cleaned up and about 7 loads of laundry. Hubby and I went shopping together, and don't you know it, I forgot to get paper plates. :-(
