What are you listening to musicwise?

I've been on a King Crimson kick lately. If you don't know them, they're a British progressive rock band. Usually they have excellent musicianship and can always be counted on for creativity. I got hooked by their first American release when I was in high school. That was "In the Court of the Crimson King" and I bought most of their stuff over the years. I've been listening to the Hellecasters- guitar monsters. Ry Cooder, Tangerine Dream, Joe Satriani, Sonny Landreth, and a bunch of other people.
I like guitar a lot, but I don't turn up my nose at anything that sounds good. I particularly like cooking to rock and roll. I think it helps when I play air guitar with the tongs.

I went to a Steve Miller Band concert last night.

Miller looks like a kindly grandfather type, but he put on an awesome show!

My aunt and mother have gotten me into Daniel O'Donnel. I just LOVE his faith and inspiration songs. I play them whenever the kids are out of the room. They are so soothing.

I bought a few instrumental CDs at Wally World last week and have been thoroughly enjoying them during my conference period. I don't whistle worth a darn, so I play music while I work. When the kids are working in small groups, I like to turn on a little music (instrumental only) to remind them that the noise level must remain below the volume of the music. The like it, and it helps me maintain my patience and sanity.

The tunes I picked up are Celtic Whispers, Romantic Piano, and Relaxation. All three are lovely.

When not with my students, I usually listen to 80s pop, or classic rock.
I've heard that four out of every three people have trouble with fractions.

I seem to keep going back to the music of my high school days (more or less) when I need a good music high. Led Zeppelin, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Blue Oyster Cult, Steve Miller, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Aerosmith, Yes, Journey (although that's a bit pop for my taste), Heart, Pink Floyd, ZZtop, Santana, The Doors, Meatloaf, etc. Classic rock.

But I really am quite in love with Bill Miller. If you haven't heard of him, he's a Native American artist. Guitar, flute, etc. FANTASTIC stuff.

    Sushi

My son is 17 and he has taught himself to play the guitar. Go for it! He goes online to learn chords and exercises. I love listening to him play. He turns red when I comment on his playing.

My brother is teaching me and I'm having help from my adoptive grandfather (not adoptive by law) just happened yesterday actually, long story.
But I'd love to be able to play and sing along, it would be great, just got to strengthen my fingers my brother said.

    That will come, Sushi

Finger strength and dexterity will come with practice. Sorry you have been ill. Being married to a minister has meant that we have moved too many times. Also, we have not lived close to our families. So we have had stand-in grandparents in several of our locations. That is wonderful for you! Now is the only time that my kids have had Grandma close to them.
