What is your HIGH and LOW for the week/

It's Friday and I made it.

:? The past three weeks have just not let up and I feel like I am the hamster on the wheel. Always getting a little bit further behind. I am a bag lady and pile person. Everything came home from school and in from the car. Can't get through it all right now, but will have to chunk it a bit at a time. A lot of the stress is out of my realm of control, but I am at the point where I must take a deep look within myself and see what is within my control. Have to be more on top of things.

Report cards were completed on Monday, and the documenting of my IEP goals completed on Tuesday. Just under the wire.

 So many meetings this quarter, especially the last week of the quarter. Unexpected work during planning periods. Not being able to use the electronic gradebook and having to do the grade at the last minute.

Had to take Mom to the ER after school as she was getting so tired just weaker as the days went by and had a temp. They admitted her for anemia with a blood count of 7.3. She had a transfusion, and it is now up one count.

 While they were getting Mom in the hospital gown, I could hear Mom tell them to please be careful as she had just gotten her hair done. I could hear laughter from both sides of the room.

Well, its the end of the 9 weeks- time to turn in grades!
See above- because that is a lot like work.

The governor gave us a $75/month raise! X@#! Yeah!
See above- with the gas prices up, that is about another tank of gas to ride on for a week, after taxes.

I'm hanging out with some of my buddies this weekend- going to the Renaissance Festival later today.

This bunch of 9th-graders we have this year are just about the laziest, sorriest bunch I've seen in a few years. I feel sorry for them in a way- they seem to have gotten a free ride up to high school, and now we are holding them accountable. But, that's the nature of the beast....

    Accreditation team was great.
I got my GRE writing score and it was better than I expected.
    Yesterday was a workday.
No bad notes from the sub.
Only five or six conferences slated for Monday's conference day.

Went to the doc and got a tetnus shot because it was time. Everytime I rolled over on my arm last night I woke up
Doc ran a thyroid scan because of some sleep changes I've had -- keeping my fingers crossed.
Well, since those things are as bad as it got last week, I'll have to say it was a great week!

My acting principal asked if I was OK with going to the MS/HS next year. My degree is in psychology and business. I'm in the computer lab K-5/technology administrator/techie/webmaster K-12. Since I've added all these hats I haven't been able to "Teach" in my lab. They are wanting to add a curriculum to the K-5 technology. There thinking is they will be able to hire someone (cert. teacher) that understands computers to replace me in the lab. I will go to the back and hold all study halls, teach a webpage class, and do all the other. Being in study hall will free the regular classroom teachers that are having to do it and it won't take away from the regular classroom time. It will be a plus for all involved. They will get the "certified" teacher in the lab but won't lose me with the experience I have and time/$$$'s saved from having to hire a company at top dollars to come in and fix things.

My low was definately finding out my 17 y.o. dd has HBP.

    Highs:
Beautiful weather three weeks in a row
I've had a lovely day today doing absolutely nothing
Great field trip this week with a great group of kids

    Lows:
    Very worried about Kid
A few "difficult" kids in my "difficult" class caused a real problem the day I was away on the field trip
I've been eating everything in sight for a week.

    Beautiful weather today
    Didn't get out in it

Got my wedding albums FINALLY put together after almost a year and a half. Had a lot of photos to sort through, organize, re-print, edit, etc. But now the big dusty tub of empty albums and loose photos is history!

Work is awful. Really awful. Like so bad it almost brings tears to my eyes when I think about it. I guess I'm just really hurt. Spent the last entire year and this year (until last week) being very nice, very understanding, and of course, tactful, courteous and professional. Unfortunately, what seems like a majority of folks I work with are incredibly immature. They are apparently upset that the principal thinks highly of me. Upset that they are required to change the way they teach reading so that it is effective, upset at me, the messenger and bringer of effective instruction to share with them. It's so bad that - can you believe this c*&p) other teachers wouldn't sign up with me for a family night, and also at the faculty meeting last Monday, I sat at a table with one teacher (who does like me, thank goodness) and NOT ONE other teacher would then sit with us, but they crowded chairs around the other tables. Honestly, folks, you are probably thinking that there must be something that I'm awful about in order to bring this on, but there really isn't. I've done all I can do to mend this, asked reasons, talked 1 on 1. I was told at the faculty meeting that it is because the principal likes me too much. I've also been told equally immature and unprofessional garbage as reasons. I am a Libra - I love harmony. I get absolutely rattled when people don't like me and bend over almost enough to kiss my OWN butt when dealing with folks. I'm so discouraged, lonely and disillusioned.  :x

Son is not doing too well. Have had more med adjustments, and school is going better than last year. But home stuff is not. It's like you (and he) can't tell when you're talking with him if he's in his "right mind" or not. Which sets off all kinds of tantrums and upsets the entire house. Also has been much worse about his choices at home. I get so tired of dealing with his issues on and on and on ... and knowing that this will continue probably for the rest of his life. It's exhausting.

Daughter has said that she wants to go live with her dad because son is so frustrating to live with. I thought dad would say no, but he didn't. She is thinking about it (it would be for one semester only to give her a break) and it's killing me. I can't stand the thought. She is going up by herself for a short visit, so I'm hoping that will help and she won't feel the need to go up there. It would be so bad for her in so many ways.

I feel so badly for you, kds. It is a long haul when others will not separate themselves from what needs to be in the best interests of the kids. You know where to find me if you need to dump somewhere!
