Your opinion, please!

As you probably noticed, Teacher Focus now looks different.
You have received a first issue of our Teacher Focus Monthly newsletter.
Also, we are planning to open a real-time chat room soon.

To make our site better, we need your input:

What changes would you like to see at TeacherFocus.com?
What improvements, from your point of view, are needed?
What new features would you add?
Do you have an interesting topic to discuss? Questions to ask? Ideas to share?

Also, we are collecting materials for the next issue of our newsletter. Please contribute an article. For additional information, contact editor@teacherfocus.com

Olav,
I am hopeful that you will let me use your first name. If you find that to be rude please delete this post.

I have been a rebel since birth, or somewhere around there. I am a Shawnee Indian who was born in a 3 room shack 39 years ago. I have been retired for four years. I have only taught one course in my life, advanced physics in high school when I was 14 That was under the supervision of a librarian who sat in the class and paid no attention to the discussions.

I know this is a forum for Teachers. Therefore, I suggest you create some "Honorary Memberships" for others who are interested in education.
Others who can make contributions, or even disagree with the teacher's consenus about what they are doing.

Let me give you an example. When I discovered this forum, I asked very politely if I could make posts, and possibly contribute. Go back and look. I got NO ANSWER saying either YES or NO".

This can be a valuable communication forum, it can be a furum for positive change, or it can be a forum where all can commisurate and agree that nothing can be done. It is up to you.

John,

In reply to your comments:

John, There is no need for "Honorary Memberships". People who are interested in education can make contributions without any need for a special membership. I'm curious tho, why you want "Honorary Members" to have a special seat from which to disagree with whatever they believe is a "teacher's consensus". One opinion is as good as any other, and teachers, any more than any other profession, rarely agree enough to form a single consensus.

"Let me give you an example. When I discovered this forum, I asked very politely if I could make posts, and possibly contribute. Go back and look. I got NO ANSWER saying either YES or NO"."

Actually, John, I only saw your post on the special ed forum, and there you got five invitations to post. You didn't ever reply to any of them including mine. I asked for you to start sharing the "innovative ideas" you promised.

"This can be a valuable communication forum, it can be a furum for positive change, or it can be a forum where all can commisurate and agree that nothing can be done. It is up to you."

It's also up to you, John. Just saying you have innovative ideas won't help a bit, you have to share you ideas and you may even have to defend them with those who've had the same ideas before.

You wouldn't walk into a room of farmers, tell them you've never farmed but have a head full of innovative ideas they should hear.... or would you?

This is a detail, but I think a logoff-button would be convenient...

a suggestion

Perhaps forum disccusion by grade level would be an added section. It would be nice to network with teachers in the same grade as me.

how to make teacherfocus better

I think it would be helpful to have a separate area for Remedial Reading. I can't seem to find a reading teacher's area here - I do see Language and Humanities and Elementary Ed, but those categories are so large, it's hard to weed through them to find the specific reading teacher conversations.

Also, it would be nice to split Elementary into K-2 and 3-5.
